Capybara Reading Challenge Grid

Screenshot of capybara reading grid by Iris A. Law

Track your reading progress using this bingo-inspired grid decorated with a cute capybara! Make a list of 24 different titles, authors, or categories of books you want to try reading and fill in the blanks. Then check off each box as you complete it and celebrate when you get five in a row. (Don’t forget to treat yourself to something extra special when you finish the whole grid!) This downloadable resource prints on standard letter-sized paper and also includes three sample lists (“Expand Your World,” “Adventure Lover,” and “Asian American Authors”) to help middle-grade readers and up get started. Great for summer break—or for any time of year.

Advent At Home: Readings and Reflections

Weekly devotions to accompany at-home candle lightings, as well as Advent activities, an introductory comic, and other resources to take adults, youth, and kids through the season. The guide also includes two coloring pages at the back that can be used as at-home enrichment or to supplement a Christian education curriculum. I originally developed this guide to support remote Advent programming for families during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic and am now making an evergreen version (that doesn’t specify dates) available to the public here. Reflections are nondenominational in flavor, though for reasons of simplicity, the order of the themes and the colors of the candles follow those used in the United Methodist tradition.
